About the Curriculum
Never has there been more attention on employers delivering meaningful employee benefits to their workforce. Benefits have become synonymous with caring for employees, shining a spotlight on their value while also ensuring that employee benefits are meaningful, effective and affordable.
In this foundational course, we’ll look at current trends in employee benefits, and discuss the basics of plan design, funding, compliance, voluntary benefits, communication and more.
Our first session will focus on trends in the benefits industry and the communications best practices you can use to help your people understand and appreciate your benefits.
After we’ve set the scene with a look at benefits trends, we’ll move into focused discussions that highlight fundamentals of health and welfare plans. We’ll start with an overview of health and managed care plans. Beyond that, many plans also include additional, voluntary benefits such as life and disability. Once your organization has defined its health and welfare plans, it must decide how to fund the plan based on its budget, risk tolerance, cost-sharing decisions and cash-flow considerations. Your organization also must ensure its plans are in compliance with the numerous legislative requirements, which include understanding and being able to explain your plans to your employees in communications, required disclosures, and other statements.
Throughout the day, the faculty will be available, and time will be allotted, to answer questions and discuss your pressing issues.
