Various laws apply to and affect health, welfare and retirement benefits.  ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code and other federal laws all impact the design and operation of these arrangements.  Remembering how and (often more importantly) "why?" can be the key to avoiding missteps.

Designed to help you do just that, this program is divided into three major parts.

Agenda and Faculty

The Big Picture: an overview of the benefits subject to (and those not subject to) ERISA, the reporting and disclosure requirements of ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code, and a discussion of key provisions of the ADEA, COBRA, HIPAA, the ACA and other critical federal laws.

Chrystine Heier, CEBS, LIA - President and Owner, Sullivan Benefits

Notice Tsunami: a deep dive into the ever-growing list of welfare benefit related notices required under an alphabet soup of federal laws, including COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, the ACA and many more.

Chase Cannon - SVP, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, NFP

Staying out of Trouble: a broad overview of the many compliance issues associated with health, welfare and retirement benefits, including a controlled group primer, nondiscrimination testing issues, fiduciary duties and merger and acquisition traps for the unwary.

David Guadagnoli - Tax Partner, Sullivan and Worcester LLP

Glenn Haskell, Benefits Director, New Balance, will moderate this interactive, hands-on program and help ensure that there are ample opportunities to ask questions specific and unique to your organization and practice.
