October in New England delivers the colors gold, red, orange and pink, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. NEEBC is spotlighting breast cancer awareness, as well as prevention and treatment for employees, while honoring survivorship.

Join us on October 25th for recent research, prevention and pharmacological initiatives by “superheroes in pink:”

  • Breast cancer survivor and guest speaker Helen Drinan dubbed herself a “cancer warrior” while President of Simmons University and Chair of Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA. She used her platform as an employer and leader of a historically women-centric academic center to speak personally and candidly about her cancer odyssey.  As the first woman in the C-suites for some of New England’s preeminent financial institutions and healthcare systems, Helen’s legacy as a human resources top leader and champion are among her most distinguished achievements. Helen graciously has agreed to share her stories over breakfast.
  • Respected, lifelong researcher and oncologist, Jaime A. Mejia, M.D., Director of Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Merck, will explain the rise in U.S. breast cancer diagnoses, largely aligned with earlier testing. There is a link between prevention and employer health insurance costs. Dr. Mejia will provide the NEEBC Community with reasons to be optimistic: newer guidelines and treatment breakthroughs.

  • Bring your questions for Helen and Dr. Mejia.

  • You’ll also receive valuable, complimentary Merck resources that could become tools for your workforce.
