Tenth Annual Best Practices Conference: WHAT'S THE BUZZ?

Benefits professionals were on the firing line again this year: expected to deliver high value in the face of shrinking budgets, rising costs, and changing employee expectations. How did they meet the challenge? Creatively!

In fact, some of the most innovative benefit ideas we've ever seen were submitted in response to this year's call for nominations for New England's Best Benefits Practices of 2008. You can see for yourself at this year's holiday conference where the "Best of the Best" will be honored, share their winning ideas, and inspire you to break out of the benefits box and create a buzz in your own organization!

In addition to hearing from this year's Best Practice award winners, our keynote speaker promises an exciting and informative morning session. Andrew Savitz, internationally known expert on sustainability and author of The Triple Bottom Line: How the Best Run Companies are Achieving Economic, Social and Environmental Success, will share his thoughts on the overlap of business and the needs of society and the environment.

"SUSTAINABILITY, THE SWEET SPOT AND YOUR BUSINESS"

Sustainability is the simple idea that organizations need to pay more attention to environmental and social issues in order to succeed over the long haul. Andrew Savitz, author of The Triple Bottom Line: How the Best Run Companies are Achieving Economic, Social and Environmental Success Ñ and How You Can Too, will provide an overview of what this means in practice and how companies are changing to meet the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits. Sustainability has important implications for every department within an organization and, in particular, on human resources. Mr. Savitz will provide insight into the relationship between HR and sustainability using case studies and examples from his book and elsewhere.

Mr. Savitz, a Principal at Sustainable Business Strategies, graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of the Georgetown University Law Review. He attended New College Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, earning a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and graduated, Phi Beta Kappa, from The Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts with his wife and three children, and is an avid, life-long Boston Red Sox fan.
