Program Description
Health care costs have always been a significant expense to organizations and their employees, and health care inflation continues to be on the rise. Managing health care costs is thus a critical part of the benefits budgeting process. Whether your plans are insured or self-insured, you should closely analyze health insurance renewals. Yet, health care renewals retain an element of mystery. What do all those technical terms mean? How can you negotiate with vendors to obtain favorable outcomes for your organization? How much flexibility do vendors really have? When is it time to bid your plans? This session will provide insights into the renewal process by answering these and other important questions.
Topics to be covered include:
- Overview of renewal components and methodology
- Components of a rate or ASO fee
- Basic elements of a renewal
- How to request and understand meaningful renewal data and rating methodologies
- Which items are negotiable in a renewal
- How to negotiate the best deal for your organization
