A Message From the Board President of NEEBC

Welcome to our Winter Newsletter. I’m Jack Myers, the new Board President of NEEBC. I’m thrilled to be Board President and would like to thank Jim Sullivan, our outgoing Board President, for his outstanding leadership over the past three years.

By day, I’m Founder and President of LukeJackson Benefit and HR Solutions. Prior to founding LukeJackson, I was an executive for a large health insurer leading the insurer’s national and major account division.

I’ve been a NEEBC board member for nine years, most recently as Treasurer, and a NEEBC member since 2009. My involvement with NEEBC has provided remarkable experiences collaborating with a diverse group of professionals and the good fortune of expanding my professional network and personal friendships with incredible people. In my role as Board President, I look forward to continuing to build relationships and collaborating to strengthen NEEBC and our community of employee benefit professionals.

In opening the Winter Newsletter, I’d like to acknowledge the impact of the novel COVID-19 on business, civic and family life. As previously communicated by NEEBC, the overall health and well-being of the NEEBC community are of the utmost importance to us, so we’ve either postponed, rescheduled or replaced in-person with virtual programming. This is a fluid situation, and we will provide you with periodic updates on NEEBC programming as guidance evolves.

Even in turbulent times there is opportunity to recognize milestones and excellence as well. 2020 is a particularly eventful milestone year for NEEBC as it marks our 40th anniversary! For 40 years, members of the NEEBC community have:

  • connected with and supported each other through various career stages;

  • mentored and awarded scholarships to upcoming benefits/HR professionals;

  • led amazing teams of people for major employers and start-ups;

  • launched highly successful businesses;

  • advanced their careers in part due to the knowledge and education acquired from NEEBC programming; and

  • celebrated each other’s successes via best practice and rising star award ceremonies, networking and other social events, the Internet, various social media channels and, of course, via this newsletter.

The NEEBC community has done it ALL TOGETHER for 40 years! The tagline for this anniversary logo was initially intended to be celebratory, but it has now taken on an additional and possibly more significant meaning as we navigate this crisis ALL TOGETHER.

During 2020, NEEBC’s 40th Anniversary milestone will be celebrated, as we also remain vigilant to the needs of the NEEBC community. We’re committed to keeping you apprised of any changes at NEEBC and new COVID-19 resources and updates that should prove useful to you as a benefits/HR professional.

I encourage you to take advantage of these resources and once we’ve resumed normal programming, I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming NEEBC program. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me or the fantastic NEEBC staff with any questions, comments, feedback or suggestions on anything NEEBC.
